Waiting on God’s Perfect Timing

A Devotional for the Woman in the In-Between

There is a sacred space between the prayer and the promise.Between the seed and the harvest.
Between “Lord, please” and “It is done.”
That space is called waiting.
And if we’re honest — it’s uncomfortable.
Waiting can feel like silence. Like delay. Like being overlooked while everyone else moves ahead.
You may be waiting for clarity in your business, provision in your finances, healing in your body, or direction for your next step. The temptation is to rush, to force, to figure it out on your own.
But God does not rush.
Scripture reminds us:
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” — Psalm 27:14 (KJV)
Waiting is not punishment.Waiting is preparation.
While you are asking God to move mountains, He is strengthening your heart.
While you are praying for the door to open, He is building your character to carry what’s behind it. His timing is not random — it is intentional, detailed, and perfectly aligned with His greater plan for your life.
Think about seasons. Seeds planted in winter do not bloom overnight. There is work happening under the soil long before anything is visible.
In the same way, God is working beneath the surface of your circumstances.
You may not see progress.
But that does not mean there is no purpose.
Sometimes the delay is protection.
Sometimes it is refinement.
Sometimes it is simply that the appointed time has not yet arrived.
God’s “not yet” is not a “no.”It is an invitation to trust.
If He gave you everything the moment you asked, you might miss the intimacy of depending on Him. Waiting teaches surrender. It softens our grip on control. It shifts our focus from outcomes to obedience.
And here is the beautiful truth:God has never been late.
Not in Scripture.
Not in history.
Not in your life.
The same God who parted seas, shut lions’ mouths, and raised the dead is the God orchestrating your timeline. What He has promised will come — at the right time, in the right way, with the right provision.
So if you find yourself in the in-between today, take heart.
He sees you.He hears you.
He is working.
And when the time is right, what He has prepared will be worth every moment of waiting.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
help me trust Your timing when my heart grows restless. Strengthen me in the waiting and remind me that You are never late. Teach me to rest in Your plan and believe that what You have for me will come in its appointed time.
Amen.
