Start Your Day with God: A Morning Routine

If you’ve been wanting to feel more grounded, peaceful, and connected to God before your day begins… this is for you.

So many of us wake up and immediately jump into emails, responsibilities, or scrolling. But what if we started our mornings differently?

What if we started with Him?

This simple Bible Besties Morning Routine is a gentle, intentional way to begin your day rooted in faith—without overwhelm or pressure.

1. Wake Up with Gratitude

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” — Psalm 118:24

Before your feet even hit the floor, take a moment.

Thank God for a new day.

Thank Him for breath in your lungs.

Thank Him for the opportunities ahead.

Gratitude shifts your perspective quickly. It reminds you that no matter what’s ahead, God is already there.

2. Pray & Give Thanks

“…but in everything, by prayer… present your requests to God.” — Philippians 4:6

Prayer doesn’t have to be long or perfect.

Just talk to Him.

Share what’s on your heart:

  • Your worries

  • Your plans

  • Your needs

  • Your gratitude

This is your time to invite God into your day before anything else tries to take your attention.

3. Read God’s Word

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

Even a few verses can make a difference.

You don’t need hours. You need consistency.

Whether it’s:

  • A chapter

  • A devotional

  • A few highlighted verses

Let His Word guide your mindset before the world does.

4. Write Down Your Verse

“I have hidden your word in my heart…” — Psalm 119:11

There’s something powerful about writing Scripture.

It helps you:

  • Remember it

  • Reflect on it

  • Carry it with you throughout the day

Try writing one verse each morning in a journal or notes app. Let it be your anchor when your day gets busy.

5. Listen to Worship

“Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God with gratitude in your hearts.” — Colossians 3:16

Turn on worship music while you:

  • Get ready

  • Make coffee

  • Start your work

It creates an atmosphere of peace and keeps your focus where it needs to be.

Start Your Day with Jesus

This isn’t about doing everything perfectly.

It’s about being intentional.

Some mornings might be quiet and slow. Others might feel rushed. That’s okay.

Even one small step—one prayer, one verse, one moment of gratitude—can shift your entire day.

And when you do it consistently?

You’ll start to notice:

  • More peace

  • More clarity

  • More trust in God’s plan
